While Keating was on the board, Oklahoma Children’s Hospital (part of OU Health) publicly advertised and performed gender transition procedures on dozens of children, including irreversible surgeries on at least seven minors.

Keating’s OU Health’s Response

In 2022, the Oklahoma Legislature and Governor ended gender transition treatments for minors.

OU Health announced it would stop all hormone therapies and surgeries for under-18 patients.

OU Health’s CEO, Richard Lofgren—appointed by the board Keating served on—called the decision “morally distressing,” saying it violated the principles of the medical profession.
